The Hawick Paper

A Hawick railway relic

This wonderful wooden outlay survived the demolition of Hawick South signal box in 1975 and is currently housed at the Bo’ness and Kinneil Railway heritage centre.

Iain MacIntosh:

The Scottish Railway Preservation Society took it for safe keeping and display. At the time they were the main preservation group for Scotland so to avoid it going in the skip it made it’s way to them although probably through private hands. Railway preservation north of the border was in it’s infancy with only them really being established. As far as I know, ‘nothing’ got offered for posterity.
